Exercise and Mental Health

09/24/2019

Most of us know that lack of exercise can lead to poor physical health. By exercising we can improve not only our physical health but our mental health as well. The positive improvements that we see can include better mood, better sleep and reduced stress. Each of these factors in turn can help to improve each other as well. For example by exercising we reduce our stress, which allows us to sleep better, so we wake up in a better mood. Exercise can also help with our mental health even as far as improving depression symptoms. With as little as 30 minutes of brisk walking a day (can even be done in 10 minute bouts) people saw improvements in their symptoms. So if you ever find yourself stressed after a long day at work, or if you are having a blah day where you just don't feel right, try taking a walk and see how exercise can help improve your day.
