The Benefits of Swimming

07/18/2019
Nothing sounds better on a hot day than jumping in a pool to cool off. Swimming offers many other health benefits than just keeping you cooled off.

As you likely know swimming is a great form of exercise no matter who you are or how good you health is. Exercise is an especially good way to exercise if you have arthritis. The water makes you more buoyant taking some of your body weight off the joints making it easier to move. This also applies to pregnancy, recovering from a broken bone and many other ailments.

Many know that swimming is a great aerobic exercise but it also acts as a resistance exercise. Since water is denser than air, to walk through a pool of water requires more force from your muscles than walking on land, and so acts as a resistance, making you stronger.

These are just a few and there are many, many others benefits to swimming so why not give it a try this summer.
